The Amanuel Abate prize rewards young entrepreneurs who have shown creativity, initiative, commitment and perseverance in developing their start-ups in the field of organic fruit and vegetable production and marketing. 

The aim of the award is to support and encourage young entrepreneurs and to reward start-ups with strong development potential.

The prize is awarded once a year on an application basis, submitted by entrepreneurs, to the Green Flower Foundation. The applications are analysed by a jury composed of 7 experts.

Who was Amanuel Abate ?

This prize is named in memory of Amanuel Abate, who was a valued member of The Green Flower Foundation advisory board. Amanuel Abate was born in Ethiopia and brought-up in Geneva. He actively participated to the creation of the first project “Organic Farming” and helped anchor the project into the Ethiopian reality and culture. 

Thanks to his analytical approach and his perfect knowledge of Ethiopia and Switzerland, he facilitated the link between the two cultures.
